Counselling and psychotherapy for individuals, children and couples.
Each of us is the sum of our experiences in life. The secret is discovering how those experiences interrelate. Mind, Body & Soul Therapeutic Services, LLC offers professional counselling in the areas described below.
Child therapy is a field of psychological treatment that is focused on helping children to cope with and understand their emotions. There are a wide variety of child therapy approaches, each of which has its own strengths and weaknesses. Some common child therapy approaches include play therapy, art therapy, and talk therapy. Play therapy is often used with younger children, as it can be an effective way to help them express their feelings through play. Art therapy can be helpful for both younger and older children, as it allows them to express themselves creatively. Talk therapy is usually used with older children, as it can help them to understand and process their emotions in a more verbal way. No matter what child therapy approach is used, the goal is always to help the child to cope with and understand their emotions in a healthy way.
Couples therapy is a type of psychotherapy that is designed to help couples improve their relationships. Couples therapy can help couples explore their relationship, learn new communication and conflict-resolution skills, and build a stronger bond. Couples therapy typically lasts for several sessions, and the number of sessions may vary depending on the needs of the couple. If you are considering couples therapy, it is important to find a therapist who you feel comfortable with and who you feel able to trust.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that was developed in the 1980s to help people who were suffering from trauma. EMDR has been found to be an effective treatment for PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), and it is also sometimes used to treat anxiety, depression, and other disorders. EMDR works by helping the brain to process and store memories in a more efficient way. Our Therapists will guide the client's eyes back and forth, and this motion is thought to help the brain to access and process memories that are stored in a different part of the brain.
EMDR can be a very effective treatment for many people, and it is often used in combination with other therapies.
Brainspotting (BSP) therapy is a type of therapy that uses spots in a person's visual field to help them process trauma. It accesses trauma trapped in the subcortical brain, the area of the brain responsible for motion, consciousness, emotions, and learning. BSP makes use of this natural phenomenon through its use of relevant eye positions. This helps the BSP therapist locate, focus, process and release a wide range of emotionally and bodily-based conditions. BSP can also be used to find and strengthen our natural resources and resilience. BSP is designed as a therapeutic tool that can be integrated into many of the healing modalities. BSP is even more powerful when used with the enhancement of BioLateral Sound CDs.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents (3-18 years of age) impacted by trauma and their parents or caregivers. It is a components-based treatment model that incorporates trauma-sensitive interventions with cognitive behavioral, family, and humanistic principles and techniques. It can be used with children and adolescents who have experienced a single trauma or multiple traumas in their lives.
AutPlay® Therapy was created by Dr. Robert Jason Grant and is an integrative family play therapy approach to help address the mental health needs of neurodivergent children ages 3-18 (including autistic children, those with ADHD, social anxiety, sensory differences, learning differences, and developmental and physical disabilities). AutPlay integrates psychological/counseling theory, models of play therapy, and relationship development approaches together in a collaborative protocol to assist children and adolescents toward gains in addressing mental health struggles. Parents and children are considered co-change agents in the therapy process and work as partners with the therapist.
A child and family therapy for children 0-18 years of age focused on building and enhancing attachment, self-esteem, trust in others, and joyful engagement. It is based on the natural patterns of playful, healthy interaction between parent and child and is personal, physical, and fun. Theraplay® interactions focus on four essential qualities found in parent-child relationships: Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge. Theraplay® sessions create an active, emotional connection between the child and parent or caregiver, resulting in a changed view of the self as worthy and lovable and of relationships as positive and rewarding.
